PRCUA Awards $61,000 for Higher Education

One of the important fraternal benefits that the Polish Roman Catholic Union of America offers to its members is scholarship grants for higher education. This year, the PRCUA has awarded $54,500 to 133 students through its Scholarship Program. An additional nine grants were awarded to students from the PRCUA Education Fund, Inc. totaling $6,500, for a grand total of  $61,000 being distributed among 142 students.

Thanks are extended to the PRCUA Scholarship Committee members Kenneth Gill, Felicia Krupinski and Leonard Kurdek, who reviewed all the applications and decided which students were eligible for a scholarship and the amount of the award based upon their academic performance, financial need and an essay submitted with their application.

In addition to the PRCUA Scholarship Program, the PRCUA maintains an Education Fund, Inc. to which all donations are tax deductible. This year, a total of $6,500 in grants were awarded to the following nine students:

Under the PRCUA Education Fund, anyone can establish an Education Scholarship - in their own name for posterity or in the name of a loved one or an organization. There are two types of scholarships:

1. A One-Time Scholarship - By making a one-time donation of $1,000 or more, to the PRCUA Education Fund, a scholarship in the donor’s name will be awarded in a given year.

2. A Permanent Scholarship - For a contribution of $25,000 or more in capitol deposits within a twelve (12) month period, a donor can establish a permanent scholarship. The income generated from this donation will be used to award scholarship grants to students.

Donors can specify the types of scholarships to be awarded, such as, students majoring in Polish Studies, Medical School, Education, Accounting or Liberal Arts, etc. All donations to the Education Fund are tax deductible. Note: Donations can be made in cash, checks, real estate property, securities, gifts of future interest, insurance, wills and trust. This is a great opportunity for individuals and organizations to make a donation in honor of or in memory of that special person who sees the importance of assisting our youth, our future, to receive a good education.
