58th Quadrennial
Convention Convoked
In the second half of March, every four years,
the President of the Polish Roman Catholic Union of America has an important
act to perform: the official convocation of the Convention. Therefore, on
this 15th day of March, in the Year of 2002, I proclaim that the 58th
Quadrennial Convention will begin on Sunday, August 11, 2002 in the city of
Romulus, Michigan at 2:00 p.m.
Michigan has not been the Convention site
since 1958. I hope that this state will serve our needs to its highest
level. The Pre-Convention Committee has been meeting to present to the
delegates and guests a very enjoyable and, hopefully, a successful
Convention week. Arrangements have been made to celebrate the Opening Mass
at the Shrine Chapel of Our Lady of Orchard Lake on Sunday, August 11, at
11:00 a.m.
Buses will leave the Crowne Plaza Hotel on
Sunday, starting at 8:30 a.m. for Mass at the Orchard Lake campus. There
will be a brief time before Mass to tour the grounds.
The business meetings will be held at the
Crowne Plaza Hotel, 8000 Meriman Road in Romulus. The hotel is a short trip
north of the Wayne County Metro Airport. I am urging all out of town
delegates to arrive on Saturday.
The first session will take place on Sunday
from 2:00 p.m. until the time for the banquet which will be held at the
hotel on Sunday evening. The Convention sessions will continue on Monday
morning. The PRCUA Constitution requires that on the third day of the
Convention, a Mass for the deceased members shall be held. This Mass will
take place at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Wyandotte, Michigan, on
Tuesday, August 13. Our National Vice Chaplain, Rev. Walter Ptak, is the
pastor of this church. After Mass, the Fraternal Luncheon will be held at
the PRCUA Society #162 Hall in Wyandotte. This Society is celebrating 100
years of its existence this year!
I urge all Societies to hold an election of
delegates in the month of April and have the delegate's credentials
forwarded to the Secretary-Treasurer not later than June 1, 2002. It is only
through the efforts of our Society leaders that our organization will
continue to move forward and serve the members of our fraternal.
Fraternally,

Wallace M. Ozog, FICF
National President
